An antifeminist proposal for child safety

Sorry for the Hungarian user interface of this blogging service. Blog.hu is a blogging service by the most popular Hungarian news portal Index.hu and I use this service for the publicity they provide for important topics. And I would like to keep the Hungarian and English version of this proposal on the same site. This proposal is about two equally important thing: Child safety and essential Human Rights. And there will be a less important topic: Windows 10.

Our goal is to promote feasible technological solution for various problems (including child safety related problems). We believe that equal protection of law is an essential human right as defined by Universal Declaration of Human Rights. As a result we strongly believe that when any other treaty, ideology or policy has gender based discrimination built in, then that treaty, ideology and policy is unacceptable. This includes Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence and other similar feminist policies. Where some people are treated as someone born guilty. And yet they ignore important statistics gathered worldwide.

Instead of an ideology that creates tension we should build working solutions. And I would think the key is a "smart doll" concept. It can be a plushie, a plastic doll, or even an action figure. With some sensors like camera, night vision camera. Or even a "heat cam" that can help detecting fever. The key element of this technology would be the "user experience". Digital assistants like Cortana can be modified to help the little ones. You wouldn't give a phone to very young children, but you would let them say: "Teddy, call mommy please!"

Of course detecting fever is just one of the features I would recommend for safety. The next one is a "heat sensor" that can tell you when the temperatures can be harmful for the little one. These interactive toys can be asked to stream music or fairy tales, help the little one to learn. At good days it would be just a nice interactive toy. But the moment when the children is scared, or speaks about abuse the toy could call experts or 911 for help. A few keywords or key behavior could trigger such calls and it could let authorities to stop and prevent domestic violence. Or react to burglaries where no one would be present to protect the children.

But intentional violence is just one of the topics. As you can guess when a child is hungry for a long, long time, that is a possibility for the system to try to notify relatives first, and if there is no success with bringing help, it can still call 911. If anything stops the parents from reaching home in time, the toy can try to find help by calling relatives and authorities. At bedtime if the kid is still alone it is a good idea to place a few calls based on settings.

Of course a toy can be "paired with" bikes and other things with their own sensors to monitor health of the little ones. And of course the "its too hot" environmental warning would be able to trigger if the toy and its little owner would be left alone in a car. Of course for the later scenario we would have another, more complex dedicated solution as well. But a little "defense in depth" and redundancy here never hurts, right? You can never be too safe.

Of course a such "plushie" or other softer toy has an advantage compared to most phones. It is soft, and well protected in case of a lot of accidents. At signs of accidents an automated call (with GPS coordinates) to 911 (or 112 in Europe) can save several lives.

As you see instead of current generation interactive toys a "Smart toy with the power of Windows 10 IoT and Cortana" can be adjusted to be a real life saver. I hope Microsoft understand this and helps to develop the project.

Most of these concepts are presented to make sure everyone can benefit from it.

If you want to help me to work on more similar concept you can either join the team to refine these ideas and create more advanced items. You can also translate this post to other languages. You help me or the contributors out with hardware / software (hehe, I would love the new version of Delphi, but it is expensive). You create publicity for the projects by just sharing a link. Or as "last resort" donate money so the time spent working on this and other similar proposals for devices, systems, etc. stays financed.

While we all have our financial problems (who doesn't), my plan doesn't involve "opening office, furnishing it, paying wages, riding a car bought by kind people who donate for this cause". I believe in *us* people sharing the joy and burden of bringing such ideas and proposals to light and working on more. Sadly to experiment with tech I have to buy them. At the moment I work on this, I don't make money and I would still have bills to pay.

I want to be as far as possible from the people who ask for donations from a cause and instead of spending the money on the cause itself they spend it on wages, "cars used by employees", offices, advertisement, parties. So if I can finance working on these ideas and still pay the bills that helps. But if I "suddenly have enough money for 3 cars and a small business jet to become the next big organization" that wouldn't make any of these ideas better.

Before any monetary donation or donation of physical items, please contact me at valasszunk@enerla.net email address (it isn't my paypal mail so don't just send donations to it).

If you despite my best efforts still want to finance luxuries for me:

I love to use DAZ Studio to render images as a hobby.

I am a gamer so I love games. Well the good ones from gog.com, Stardock, Rockstar are my favorites. :)

Gifts along those lines are accepted, but I would be much much more happy if instead of giving the gift to me, you would give it to a "young nerd in need" who just can't finance his expenses when buying DAZ 3D content, or who just can't play with a good game because it is our of his reach.

Here in Hungary a lot of people make less than $300 in a month, and the prices are often much higher than in USA (Gallon of gas is around $4.5 but hey, I can ride the bus) so I know how it feels when people can't afford games, DVDs, or the Lumia 950 XL I would love so much (Or a Surface tablet), but what is important I can squeeze into my budget, and making kids happy and safe are more important.
